How you set up the volleyball tournament

Sets won, not the rallies

In setup, switch scoring to sets. You enter 2:0 or 2:1. The rallies to 25 stay on the scoresheet. The winner gets the win points, and the difference in the table is the set difference. The league scale, where a 3:2 is only worth two points, is not calculated for you.

Courts and who referees

Each court in the hall is a field. The duration in the planner is the slot, even when you play on time instead of to 25. Add the team on a break as a referee and assign them to the match in that gap. One per match.

Typical tournaments

01

Mixed and social tournament

Set the duration in the planner to the time you play, and enter the sets, including a 1:1. A later phase holds the placing matches.

02

Youth tournament

Age groups as divisions, three fields. The team on a break is the referee of the next match.

03

Club championship

Round robin, scoring on sets. At 1:1 you play the deciding set on court and enter 2:1.

How to set it up

Four steps and the basics are in place.

  1. 1

Switch scoring to sets. Enter the sets, for example 2:1, not 25:18.

  2. 2

Set the points for a win. Use a draw only if your rules allow a 1:1 when time runs out.

  3. 3

Tie-breakers: points, then difference, then sets won.

  4. 4

Add each court. Assign teams on a break as the referee of the next match.

Volleyball tournament questions

Do I enter 2:1 or every set?

The sets won, 2:1 or 2:0. The rallies to 25 stay on the scoresheet. The table sorts by win points, then by set difference.

Can the table use the league scale of 3, 2 and 1?

No. A win has one point value, whether it was 2:0 or 2:1. The scale where a 3:2 is only worth two points, and the loser gets one, you keep beside it if the federation requires it.

How do I plan it when teams referee each other?

Add the team on a break as a referee and assign them in the planner to the match in that gap. One per match.

Can a set be timed instead of played to 25?

Yes. The duration in the planner is the slot. You still enter the sets won. A 1:1 is a draw if you award points for one.

What about the deciding set?

You play it on court. In EasyTourney you then enter 2:1. There is no switch that forces the third set.
