EasyTourney

Ice hockey tournaments, counted in minutes of ice.

You add resurfacing as a break in the plan, and each cross-ice zone as its own field. A win after a shoot-out counts as an ordinary win.

How you set up the ice hockey tournament

Match length and resurfacing

The duration in the planner is the block of periods. You add resurfacing as its own break, about 12 minutes, and move the later games behind it. It is not inserted automatically after every third game.

Cross-ice and points

Each zone is a field, and the plan places the games side by side. In setup there is one value for a win, a draw and a loss. The IIHF scale of 3 and 2 points depending on overtime is not built in. You enter the score after overtime or the shoot-out, and the winner gets the ordinary win points.

Typical tournaments

01

Youth cross-ice

Each zone a field, a short duration. Resurfacing is a break, and it covers the whole sheet.

02

Recreational tournament

One field, one match day, the final as the last phase. Scores come in through the helper link from the boards.

03

Four teams before the season

One group, round robin, then a final. Few games, with resurfacing in between.

How to set it up

Four steps and the basics are in place.

  1. 1

Enter the match length as the periods actually take, including a short change. Add resurfacing as its own break, not inside the match length.

  2. 2

Add each cross-ice zone as its own field. A full sheet with no split stays one field.

  3. 3

Set the points for a win. If every game has a winner, set a loss to 0 and do not plan for draws.

  4. 4

Let the timekeeper enter scores through the helper link, from the boards, not after the last ice slot.

Ice hockey tournament questions

How do I plan resurfacing?

As a break in the planner, with its own length. It is not inserted after every third game. Put it where the machine comes out, and move the games behind it.

How do I add cross-ice zones?

Each zone is a field. The plan places games side by side. Teams see the zone on the tournament page.

Can a win after a shoot-out be worth fewer points?

No. A win, a draw and a loss each have one value. The IIHF scale of 3 and 2 is not built in. Enter the final score and count it as an ordinary win.

What do I enter after a shoot-out?

The final score that has a winner, such as 3:2. The individual attempts are not in the table.

Who enters the score?

The timekeeper, through the helper link, from a phone at the boards. The table updates without a walk to the locker room.
