Phases, groups and knockouts

Updated 2026-10-22

Phases run one after the other. Groups are everyone against everyone, the knockout round passes the winners on.

A phase is a section of the tournament, such as the preliminary round or the final round. You start the next phase yourself when the previous one is finished.

In a group everyone plays against everyone else. You tune in for the return game if you play it that way. EasyTourney creates the pairings.

In the knockout round, the winner advances to the next round without you writing down names. You can no longer rebuild a group that is running, otherwise the table and game plan will no longer fit together. You can adjust later phases as long as they have not started.

Swiss and Double Elimination are separate articles in this section. You create both in the phase, not via a template.
