Phases, groups and knockout

Updated 2026-10-22

Phases run one after another. Groups are round robin. Knockout moves the winners on.

A phase is one stretch of the tournament, such as the group stage or the finals. You start the next phase yourself once the previous one is done.

In a group, everyone plays everyone. Turn on return matches if that is how you play. EasyTourney creates the pairings.

In a knockout round the winner moves on without you copying names across. Do not rebuild a group that is already playing, or standings and schedule stop matching. You can still adjust later phases as long as they have not started.

Swiss and double elimination have their own articles in this section. Add both inside the phase, not from a template.
